Lieutenant Justin Griffin from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Phoenix witnessed the object, and explained to Reuters, “It took an unusually long time to get across the sky.” But he continued, “It’s like a meteor. It’s not like we had any flying objects with little green men or anything like that.”

UFO Sightings Increase 67 Percent over 3 years
MUFONs Clifford Clift tells the Huffington Post that reports of UFOs have increased over the years.
"Over the past year, we've been averaging 500 sighting reports a month, compared to about 300 three years ago [67 percent]," MUFON international director Clifford Clift said.
"And I get one or two production companies contacting me every week, wanting to do stories on UFOs."

September 11th, 2011 UFO sighting, UFO expands 75 feet wide
A UFO was sighted 16 miles southeast of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The object was said to have many unusual properties, changing in size, hovering, and being completely silent. No video or photos were taken of the object.

I could see that the light was becoming more and more orange-colored, and getting brighter. The more orange it got, the more oval-shaped it became, and the larger it seemed to be."
The object stopped expanding when it reached about 75 feet wide and began to hover.
